Do you have a habit that you just can't seem to break? Such a never being on time, or maybe overthink everything. Here are a few tips that can help you create healthier habits.

"Bad habits can interrupt your life and prevent you from accomplishing important life goals. Is there something deeper — a fear, an event, or a limiting belief — that is causing you to hold on to something that is bad for you? Bad habits address certain needs in your life. And for that reason, it's better to replace your bad habits with a healthier behavior that addresses that same need. If you expect yourself to simply cut out bad habits without replacing them, then you'll have certain needs that will be unmet and it's going to be hard to stick to a routine of “just don't do it” for very long."

Step 1 Identify the habit. You first start by identifying the triggers to the habit itself. Recognizing the causes of your bad habits is crucial to overcoming them.

Step 2 You must deal with the triggers for the habit(s) in question by creating a plan or setting a goal to cut out the habit. You can track how many times per day your bad habit happens. This way you will have an idea of when and how you can start replacing the habit with a healthier choice!

Step 3 Stay disciplined. A healthy way to break a habit is to stop doing for at least 21 days. Instead, you need to replace a bad habit with a new habit that provides a similar benefit.

Step 4 Let your friends or family help you! Sometimes it takes a group effort to break a habit. Find someone with similar goals and make it a healthy way to connect with others!

Step 5 STAY CONSISTENT. Don't stop replacing your habits with healthier choices. Remember it takes will power to accomplish any goal. Don't worry if you mess up. It's important to keep going and to stay positive and realistic about your goals!

"Breaking bad habits takes time and effort, but mostly it takes perseverance. Most people who end up breaking bad habits try and fail multiple times before they make it work. You might not have success right away, but that doesn't mean you can't have it at all."
